Coffee and Chat Morning Teas

Families of children with special needs are invited to join us  :

9-11am every Tuesday morning

at the Drop-in Lounge for a cup of coffee. This is a great opportunity to meet other families and talk to our Family Support Officer in a relaxed and non-judgmental environment. No RSVP required.

 

The Umbrella Drop-in Lounge offers:

▪                Meeting room

 

We have now moved to our new independent office space at 131 Thuringowa Drive, Kirwan! Completely pram and wheelchair friendly , heaps of parking and a relaxed informal environment.

The Umbrella Drop-in Lounge is open to any family member of a child with a disability or special needs, regardless of degree of severity or type of impairment.

We provide free tea and coffee facilities and a  welcome haven for families needing a willing ear and friendly support, or just a place to relax between appointments or after school drop off.

Family Support Officers at Umbrella understand the issues involved in caring for children with special needs and are available to talk with parents and other family members who visit the Centre. They can offer support and provide information to assist in overcoming many of the daily living difficulties that many parents of children with special needs experience. They can help you find information about specific conditions, services, equipment and agencies as well as support groups and entitlements.

There is no charge for these services although we do encourage families to become Umbrella members and get some great benefits!

Support Groups Meeting Space

Support groups can make use of the Umbrella Drop-in Centre during weekdays, free of charge, as their meeting place.
